UNIT 1


INTRODUCTION



MANUFACTURE: To convert form of raw material to create a product by applying some form of energy.



PRODUCTION: To manufacture or produce at large scale.


PRODUCE: Naturally available like petroleum, milk, vegetables, etc


MANUFACTURING SYSTEM:

Methods to change shape/form, like:

Casting/forging.

Forming/shaping

Machining

Joining

Finishing


Manufacturing system is broadly divided into 3 parts :

Process

Output


Input: Input for the system starts right from identifying the item to be manufactured. Market surveys to judge customer demand


Study for availability of raw materials


Recruitment of skill human resources


Arranging financial support


Planning and arranging energy resources including backup arrangements planning of Periodic education or up gradation of skill set of employees.

Process: Next step is processing of raw materials. Process includes:

Designing

Planning

Production

Management


Output: After processing is over, we get the output in form of:

Customer goods/Capital goods
